At WINGS, we all share responsibility for keeping the site clean, safe and enjoyable for everyone. By looking after our environment and facilities, we help create a better experience for the whole community.
Keeping the site clean and safe
We expect everyone at WINGS to take a proactive role in maintaining a tidy campsite and setting a positive example for others.
Please DO:
- Place all litter and non-recyclable items into black bags and take them to the allocated refuse points
- Wash, sort and place your recycling into the appropriate bags and take to the allocated recycling points
- Dispose of wastewater only at the allocated wastewater points at allocated wastewater points across the site.
- You MUST bring your own portable wastewater containers, for transferring your wastewater to the dedicated wastewater points. Ensure these are labelled or colour coordinated to prevent the risk of cross over between fresh and wastewater.
- Inspect your gas hoses and regulators before you arrive to ensure they are in date and in good condition.
- Bring a fire blanket. Groups must have at least one fire blanket in their cooking area.
Please DONT:
- Bring generators as these are not allowed in the camping areas. Special power provisions have been made in advance where needed
- Bring any fuel other than LPG. This is the only fuel allowed on site. Please don’t bring any flammable liquids e.g. petrol, meth’s, paraffin or candles as these are not allowed on site. Pierceable LPG canisters are not allowed at WINGs.
- Light any fires on site including charcoal BBQs, these are not permitted in Windsor Great Park. Gas BBQs are permitted, only if supervised at all times and must be stood off the ground.
- Avoid glass products wherever possible, to protect local wildlife in the Deer park and all participants.
Remember: all equipment brought to the site must be removed at the end of camp, including any broken items. Sites must be ‘left as you found them’.
At WINGS, we all share responsibility for keeping the site clean, safe and enjoyable for everyone. By looking after our environment and facilities, we help create a better experience for the whole community.
Toilets, showers and washing facilities
Our shared facilities are used by thousands of people each day, so it’s important that everyone treats them with care and respect.
Please:
- Keep toilets and showers clean and tidy — think of the next person using them
- Queue respectfully and allow everyone fair access
- Limit showers where possible (guidance will be provided on site)
- Report any issues to your subcamp team
Please also note:
- Water in toilet blocks is not drinking water
- Washing (including clothes or dishes) should not take place in toilet blocks
- Tooth brushing should take place at your campsite, not in shared facilities
- Liquid soap is provided and should remain in the facilities
All group leaders are expected to remind young people to keep facilities clean throughout the event.
Respecting our environment
Windsor Great Park is a special environment, and we all play a role in protecting it.
- Take care to leave your campsite as you found it
- Avoid unnecessary water waste
- Use all facilities responsibly and considerately
- Do not interfere with any wildlife or flora in the Royal Park.
