Participants will have free time in the evening to choose the activities they can do and can come and go as they want. It’s highly encouraged that you take part in these evening activities, but we understand some young people may wish to remain on their group’s campsite for downtime after a busy day when needed.
All evening activities will begin at 19:30 and end at 22:00.

Opening and closing ceremonies
Our ceremonies are some of the most powerful moments of WINGS, bringing everyone together to begin and end our shared adventure in truly unforgettable style.
From the very first gathering to our final farewell, these are the moments where the whole Jamboree comes together as one global family of Scouts and Girlguiding.
James, Abi, Liz, Dean and the entire Evening Programme Team can’t wait to welcome you to a fun‑filled opening and closing celebration — the perfect way to kick off and round off your WINGS experience.
Come ready to make some noise and be part of it:
- Wear your jamboree uniform
- Bring your banners and flags
- Add some fun with hats, face paint or creative touches
- And most importantly… bring your energy and your voice
These ceremonies are big, bold, and full of WINGS spirit – so get involved, cheer loudly, and help make them moments to remember.
Ceremony safety
We want everyone to enjoy the ceremonies safely as well as spectacularly. The arena will be supported by our WINGS event volunteers and marshals, who are there to help guide you throughout.
Please:
- Listen carefully to all instructions from marshals and event volunteers
- Follow guidance when entering and leaving the arena
- Be patient, there’s no need to rush
- Remain within the marked areas keeping all walkways clear
Taking a little extra care ensures everyone can enjoy these moments together.
Opening ceremony – Saturday 25 July
Our opening ceremony will start on Saturday from 7:00pm, it’s where the WINGS journey truly begins.
On our first evening together, all participants will gather in the main arena for an exciting launch of the week ahead – a celebration of friendship, adventure and everything WINGS represents. It’s your first chance to see the full scale of the camp, connect with subcamps across the site, and feel part of something extraordinary.
You will be guided to the arena by your subcamp team and positioned together as a group ready for the show to begin. Once everyone has arrived, the atmosphere will build as we officially open WINGS 2026.
After the ceremony, the celebrations continue, with evening activities and entertainment bringing the site to life.
Full timings and arrival arrangements will be confirmed closer to the event.
Closing ceremony – Friday 31 July
All great adventures must come to an end and at WINGS, we do that in style.
Our closing ceremony will start on Friday from 7:00pm, it will be a celebration of everything you have achieved, discovered and experienced throughout the week. It’s a chance to reflect on new friendships, new skills and unforgettable moments, and to say goodbye to the incredible community we’ve created together.
Your subcamp team will provide guidance on when and where to gather, and how the ceremony will run.
Expect music, celebration and a few emotional moments as we bring WINGS 2026 to a truly memorable close.
