- Sunday’s activities – The Battle of the Subcamps
Your subcamp is your home for the week; where you’ll sleep, eat, relax, and build friendships that will last long after WINGS ends.
Each group is allocated to one of our participant subcamps, supported by a dedicated subcamp Team who are there to help you settle in, stay safe, and make the most of your experience. They’ll be your first point of contact throughout the week and will keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes.
Arriving and setting up
It takes approximately 10–15 minutes to walk from the car park to your camping area, and all equipment and personal belongings must be carried onto site. We strongly recommend bringing a trolley or wheelbarrow to help transport kit more easily.
Camping space within subcamps is carefully planned, so please consider this when selecting tents and equipment. Your group will be allocated a defined pitch area, which must be used efficiently and safely.
Your subcamp team will:
- Show you to your allocated pitch
- Confirm pitch boundaries
- Identify the location for your kitchen and cooking area
Please ensure all equipment, including kitchen tents, is set up within the designated areas provided. This is essential for both safety and effective use of space.
Tents, shelters and equipment
- Tents must be erected following manufacturer instructions
- All structures must be secured appropriately for weather conditions (e.g. straps, ratchets, guy lines)
- Appropriate gaps must be maintained between tents, with a minimum of 3-meter gap between any cooking tents and sleeping tents
- Structures must not encroach into designated fire breaks or paths
Your subcamp team will be on hand to advise and support if needed.
Living in your subcamp
Subcamps are more than just a place to camp – they are vibrant communities, each with their own identity, activities and atmosphere.
Every participant will be issued with a subcamp necker (scarf), which should be worn throughout the event. This is an important part of:
- Helping identify participants and teams on site
- Creating a sense of belonging and shared identity
- Supporting safety and safeguarding across the event
Both neckers and wristbands form part of our site identification, and everyone on site plays a role in helping ensure these are worn appropriately. Please clearly label your necker once issued to you.
The subcamp experience
Each subcamp will have its own team, personality and programme elements, helping to create a welcoming and supportive environment for all participants.
Across the week, your subcamp will be where you:
- Begin and end each day
- Meet other groups from across the UK and around the world
- Take part in subcamp activities and shared moments
- Eat your meals
- Build friendships and memories that define your WINGS experience

Home for the week
Your subcamp is more than just a place to pitch a tent, it’s your base, your community, and your home at WINGS.
Take care of it, take pride in it, and most importantly… make the most of every moment together.
Lights out and quiet time
To make sure everyone can rest and recharge for the next day’s adventures, there will be a quiet period across the entire WINGS site each night.
- Lights out and quiet time: 23:00 to 06:30
During this time:
- All noise should be kept to a minimum
- Radios, speakers and other noise‑producing items must be used considerately before 23:00
- All such items must be turned off at 23:00
Please be mindful of others in your subcamp – a good night’s sleep helps everyone make the most of their WINGS experience, we don’t want to be waking them dragons!
Sunday’s activities – The Battle of the Subcamps
Sunday will be your chance to celebrate everything that makes your subcamp unique – a day full of energy, creativity and a little friendly competition.
At the heart of the day is the Battle of the Subcamps, where each subcamp will host its own activity, challenge or experience for others to take part in. Expect everything from fast paced games to creative challenges, themed experiences and moments of pure WINGS fun, all created by the subcamps themselves.
Groups will also be encouraged to get involved by helping to run or support activities, bringing their own ideas, talents and personality into the day. This is your opportunity to showcase what makes your group special and contribute to the wider WINGS experience.
Those who take part in subcamp Sunday activities will be able to earn a special event badge, marking their involvement in one of the most vibrant and collaborative moments of the week.
Further guidance on how subcamp Sunday will run, and how groups can get involved, will be shared closer to the event by your subcamps team.
One camp, many communities
Subcamp Sunday is all about bringing the camp together, celebrating creativity, teamwork and the incredible spirit of WINGS.
