Anne Anderson

Head of Sub-Camps

My name is Anne and I am a Girlguiding Leader from Gloucestershire but I have been in Guiding all my life. I joined Brownies when I was 7 (Rainbows didn’t exist then) and I have never left! I run Rainbows, Brownies and Guides and have experience in roles such as Region Outdoor Activities Adviser and County Commissioner. My most recent ‘big thing’ has been as Lead Volunteer for four years at Girlguiding’s Wellies & Wristbands, a festival style weekend camp for Guides and Rangers at their Foxlease Centre in the New Forest where 3,500 girls and Leaders attended in 2018. I led a team of over 200 volunteers to make it happen!

My role for WINGS 2020 is as one of the Deputy Camp Leaders with a focus on looking after the Sub Camps and volunteers. It’s my job to make sure participants all get the same WINGS experience, regardless of your sub camp and to ensure you get everything you need along the way with the help of our sub camp teams of volunteers. I have attended the last two WINGS camps with my Guides and they have loved every minute of it, so this time I get to make the magic happen. As the Camp Leader and other Deputy are both Scouters, my role also includes making sure that we’re getting it right for Guiding, sticking to our Guiding rules and that anyone with Guiding specific queries has a Guiding response.

I can’t wait to meet you all in the summer of 2020. It won’t be long now!
