Responsible to: Café Manager
Responsible for: Joining the team to deliver the in-house Café at WINGS 2020.

Providing hot drinks and light snacks and refreshments as found in any high street café including both takeaway and drink-in service to staff, leaders and participants.

The Café will be open from early morning to late evening, with a shift rota covering the opening times to ensure everyone is able to enjoy the Jamboree.

Please note this is separate to that of the staff catering provision.

Key activities of the role: Specific Responsibilities:

  • Taking orders, and payment from adults and young people.
  • Preparing both drink-in, and takeaway food and drinks (likely to be bean to cup coffee machines).
  • Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of food preparation areas, ensuring the Café is clean and welcoming.
  • Following appropriate health and hygiene controls and finance procedures as advised at the start of the jamboree.
Person specification This role is likely to be very active, as such you should be able to:

  • Be keen and eager to deliver a great experience for those attending the event and visiting the Café.
  • Be able to be on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Be able to move items of stock and ingredients from storage to the Café, both manually, and with aids.

No experience of working in a café is required, full training will be given on how to use the equipment.

Role requirements By accepting this role:

  • You will be required to be or become a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) or the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM).
  • You will be required to hold a current DBS Disclosure through either Girlguiding or The Scout Association UK.

The appointee must:

a)   accept the values of Scouting and Guiding

b)   agree not to promote any beliefs, behaviours or practices that are not compatible with the values of Scouting or Guiding

c)    agree to work within the policies and rules of both Associations

d)   have not been convicted of any other offence(s) or subject to disciplinary proceedings relevant to this role
