Role purpose and scale: |
Ensure effective recruitment and management of sufficient suitably
experienced staff in support of WINGS 2026 fully achieving its
objectives.
Planning, development and implementation of WINGS 2026
recruitment strategies, and communication with staff. Responsible
for ensuring suitable safeguarding policies are in place. |
Key activities of the role: |
- Support the Head of People to manage the members of
the People Team with support where required from the
Camp Leader
- Provide support to the Head of People in dealing with
grievances and performance issues, working with the County
Commissioners as necessary.
- Support with the Design and implementation of a
comprehensive People Strategy to ensure sufficient staff are
recruited and trained for WINGS 2026
- Work with the marketing and communications team to
promote WINGS 2026 to recruit staff within Berkshire,
nationally and internationally
- Ensure that a Safeguarding Policy, consistent with the
requirements of Girlguiding and The Scout Association is in
place. Work with Girlguiding Royal Berkshire and Berkshire
Scouts to ensure that all volunteers and contractors have
appropriate DBS checks in place in advance of the event.
- Work with the Leadership Development teams of Girlguiding

Time Commitment |
- Your involvement will begin as soon as your appointment has
been confirmed and will end with the delivery of the final
audited accounts and closure reports.
- As well as attending the WINGS 2026 event itself, you will be
expected to attend People Team meetings, and other
meetings and events as required

Role requirements |
By accepting this role:
- You will be required to become a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) or the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) if not already.
- You will be required to hold a current DBS Disclosure through either Girlguiding UK or The Scout Association UK.
The appointee must:
a) accept the values of Scouting and Guiding
b) agree not to promote any beliefs, behaviours or practices that are not compatible with the values of Scouting or Guiding
c) agree to work within the policies and rules of both Associations
d) have not been convicted of any other offence(s) or subject to disciplinary proceedings relevant to this role |
Person specification |
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate a number
of the following competencies:
Human Resources:
- experience in an HR or people related role
- thorough knowledge of human resource management
principles and best practices
- strong oral and written communications skills.
- knowledge of data analysis and reporting
- ability to manage multiple projects at a time
- knowledge and understanding of the safeguarding policies of Girlguiding and the Scout Association
