Hannah Coxhead

Head of Climbing and Ropes

Hey! I’m Hannah

I’ll be heading up the climbing and ropes at WINGS 2020 with Lewis.

Lewis and I met at the last WINGS and we are both so excited to have this opportunity to work on this challenge together and help everyone else create as many memories as possible!

I myself started in the Scouting family as a beaver and have worked my way up through the sections. I am currently a Beaver leader at my old group in Reading and am also a member of Berkshire’s Climbing Active Support Unit. I have helped in various sections in different groups based in Plymouth/Devon/ Winnersh and Cambridge.

Why WINGS 2020 Climbing team?

Truth be told I used to despise climbing, you would only find me with my feet firmly on the floor at the bottom of the wall! In 2013 I was approached to be part of the WINGS 2014 Climbing Team after developing an interest in instructing (the perfect way to be involved without having to leave the ground). Safe to say I haven’t looked back. I have since gone on to gain a Nationally recognised qualification in instructing climbing and have caught the climbing bug myself, having previously competed in both local and national competitions.

Since WINGS 2014 Lewis and I have been attending various jamborees across the U.K and have been inspired to bring these ideas together and back to our local Jamboree!

I wouldn’t change/trade my scouting experiences for anything and I can’t think of a better way to give back than by providing these experiences for others too!

So if you want to be part of (the greatest) climbing team, climber or not – send your details to [email protected] (No previous training/ love of climbing required)

Help us leave a legacy!
