The Activity teams of Girlguiding Royal Berkshire and Berkshire Scouts

Role purpose and scale:
  • Ensure effective recruitment and management of sufficient suitably experienced Activity staff in support of WINGS fully achieving its objectives.
  • Plan a comprehensive programme for the duration of the event; being responsible for onsite and off site activities including evening events
  • Produce and manage a budget for the delivery of the programme
    This role is a member of the WINGS Delivery Leadership Team.
Key activities of the role: Specific Responsibilities:

  • Recruit the WINGS Programme Team and staff under arrangements agreed with the County Commissioners to ensure a balance of ages and membership of the two organisations
  • Manage the members of the Programme Team with support where required from the Camp Leader
  • Design and implement a comprehensive Programme
  • Monitor progress and submit regular performance reports to the Delivery Leadership Team
  • Control budgets and allocate resources within the Programme Team
  • Work with the Leadership Development teams of Girlguiding Royal Berkshire and Berkshire Scouts and Head of HR to identify the specific training requirements for Berkshire leaders prior to the event to ensure sufficient qualified staff to deliver the programme.
Time Commitment
  • Your involvement will begin as soon as your appointment has been confirmed and will end with the delivery of the final audited accounts and closure reports.
  • The majority of the financial transactions will take place in the final six to nine months leading up to the event .
  • As well as attending the WINGS event itself, you will be expected to attend Finance team meetings, and other meetings and events as required.
Role requirements By accepting this role:

  • You will be required to become a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) or the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) if not already.
  • You will be required to hold a current DBS Disclosure through either Girlguiding UK or The Scout Association UK.

The appointee must:

a)  accept the values of Scouting and Guiding

b)  agree not to promote any beliefs, behaviours or practices that are not compatible with the values of Scouting or Guiding

c)   agree to work within the policies and rules of both Associations

d)  have not been convicted of any other offence(s) or subject to disciplinary proceedings relevant to this role

Person specification To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate a number of the following competencies:

  • knowledge of data analysis and reporting
  • ability to manage multiple projects at a time
  • knowledge and understanding of the safeguarding policies of Girlguiding and/or the Scout Association.
