Responsible for: Managing the insurance for WINGS 2020 to include, but is not limited to equipment, activity and personal and third party insurances.

Role purpose and scale: To be responsible for managing the risk and insurance for WINGS 2020. This will include PAME, Loss/damage of personal equipment, marine, vehicles, damage to site, equipment hire and cancellation insurances. A number of risks are covered by existing Guiding and Scout insurance policies but we will need to ensure that we understand the risks and arrange top up cover where required.

 

Key activities of the role: Specific Responsibilities:

  • to understand insurance and risks already covered by Unity for Scouts and Guides in the UK
  • to understand the risks for each section of WINGS 2020 and propose and agree a suitable approach to insurance and risk management to the Delivery team/Governance group
  • to design and administer insurance solutions for the protection of material assets and liabilities for WINGS 2020
  • to design and administer insurance solutions, including personal and third party liabilities, and cancellation risks.
Time Commitment
  • Your involvement will begin as soon as your appointment has been confirmed and will end with the delivery of the final audited accounts and closure reports.
  • As well as attending the WINGS 2020 event itself, you will be expected to attend Finance team meetings, some Delivery Team meetings and other meetings and events as required.
Role requirements By accepting this role:

  • You will be required to become a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) or the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) if not already.
  • You will be required to hold a current DBS Disclosure through either Girlguiding UK or The Scout Association UK.

The appointee must:

a)  accept the values of Scouting and Guiding

b)  agree not to promote any beliefs, behaviours or practices that are not compatible with the values of Scouting or Guiding

c)  agree to work within the policies and rules of both Associations

d)  have not been convicted of any other offence(s) or subject to disciplinary proceedings relevant to this role

Person specification To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate a number of the following competencies:

  • Knowledge of insurance is essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of managing insurance at events of this scale would be useful but are not essential.
