Role purpose |
- To be responsible for the planning, production and delivery of press releases and news
- To support the Head of Marketing with promoting WINGS 2026 via the range of marketing channels available e.g. social media, website
- To recruit, liaise and manage VIP attendees and ambassadors

Key activities of the role: |
Specific Responsibilities
- Development of a high-level PR and media plan
- Engagement with a range of media channels such as local or national radio or Guide and Scout groups to help promote WINGS 2026
- Monitor and report progress on the performance of your activities (the Co-Heads of Marketing will work with you to identify measurement)
- Recruitment of and on-site support with VIP management / liaison
- Provide support with social media

Time Commitment |
- Your involvement will begin as soon as your appointment has been confirmed and will end when the WINGS 2026 camp closes.
- You will need to identify the amount of time the role will take on a month to month basis between appointment and camp close
- As well as attending the WINGS 2026 event itself, you will be expected to attend Programme Team meetings as required

Role requirements |
By accepting this role:
- You will be required to become a member of WAGGGS or WOSM if not already.
- You will be required to hold a current DBS Disclosure through either Girlguiding or The Scout
- You will be required to hold a county appointment in one of Girlguiding Royal Berkshire or Berkshire
The appointee must:
- accept the values of Scouting and Guiding
- agree not to promote any beliefs, behaviours or practices that are not compatible with the values of Scouting or Guiding
- agree to work within the polices and rules of both Associations
- have not been convicted of any other offence(s) or subject to disciplinary proceedings relevant to this role

Capabilities |
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate a number of the following competencies:
- Proven experience in delivering effective press releases, news and social media updates
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good time keeping skills and experience of working to a deadline
- Excellent proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint, in particular)
- Experience in using social media for an organisation or group (beyond personal use)
- Experience of using a content management system to manage website content (preferable, but can be trained if no experience)
