Selena Trivedi

‘WINGS in a day’ Leader

My name is Selena and I will be responsible for ‘WINGS in a day’ for WINGS 2020, a programme for local young people aged 6 to 10 aimed at involving them in the event.

I have been involved in Scouts at 1st Furze Platt Scout Group in Maidenhead since 2011, having previously been a part of the Guide movement. As a teenager, I was a Young Leader for the Scout section and a member of Dragon Explorer Unit. In 2015 I attended the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Japan as a participant. This was my first international jamboree and it was from this experience I got my taste for participating in them. When I turned 18 I became a Group Occasional Helper, volunteering in 2016 at Essex International Jamboree as part of the programme team.

I am now an Assistant Cub Leader for Furze Platt Tuesday cub pack in Maidenhead. I am also a student at the University of Sheffield studying Geography. During the 2018-2019 academic year I am undergoing a work placement year in Supply Chain Management. This job has allowed me to work on process improvement, managing spend, supplier management and procurement, skills which are invaluable to WINGS 2020. From September 2019 I will be returning to my studies in Sheffield and will have just graduated from University when Wings 2020 takes place.

In my spare time I love going on walks in the Peak District and exploring new places.

I’m really looking forward to working with an amazing team of volunteers to make WINGS 2020 the best one yet!
