Responsible to: Shop Supervisor
Responsible for: Joining the team delivering the retail outlet at WINGS 2020 selling everything from sweets, to drinks, to ice creams, to clothing, to souvenirs, as well as the essentials people forgot to pack. Selling to the 6000 people onsite, as well as the Mid-Week Wings visitors each day.

The shop will be open from early morning through to late evening, with a shift rota covering the opening times to ensure everyone is able to have some time off to enjoy the jamboree.

Key activities of the role: Specific Responsibilities:

  • Selling goods, from souvenirs, to drinks and sweets, to ice creams, to clothing, supporting young people in their choices.
  • Taking cash and card payments, and handling in accordance with advised financial procedures.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and tidiness ensuring the shop is clean and welcoming.
  • Replenishing stock on display, and within fridges and freezers ensuring sufficient items available for sale.

Other roles within the Retail and Concessions team as agreed from time to time

Person specification To be successful in this role you will need to:

  • Be keen and eager to deliver a great experience for those attending the event and visiting the shop.
  • Be able to be on your feet for long periods of time serving customers.
  • Be able to assist with moving items of stock which may involve manual handling.

No experience of working in a shop is required, full training on all our procedures will be given at the start of the Jamboree.

Role requirements By accepting this role:

  • You will be required to be or become a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) or the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM).
  • You will be required to hold a current DBS Disclosure through either Girlguiding or The Scout Association UK.

The appointee must:

a)   accept the values of Scouting and Guiding

b)   agree not to promote any beliefs, behaviours or practices that are not compatible with the values of Scouting or Guiding

c)    agree to work within the policies and rules of both Associations

d)   have not been convicted of any other offence(s) or subject to disciplinary proceedings relevant to this role
