Sheep herding, escape the castle, and so much more!

With the festivities of the opening ceremony complete, Sunday heralded the start of the action with the Battle of the Subcamps.

Each subcamp was given free range to put on entertainment and challenges of their choice to impress fellow Jamboree attendees, and to see who could come out on top. And what an array of activities we had!

1st Hedgerly Scouts deserve a shout-out for their inventive sheep herding challenge, while Guernsey Girlguiding in Wessex went for a classic pin the tail on the donkey.

Among the other standouts for our media team were crate stacking in East Anglia, circus skills courtesy of 1st Owlsmoore, shield creation with Wilton Explorers, and an ingenious ‘Escape the Castle’ from 10th Hereford (Whitecross).

There was plenty of excitement around the activities. WINGS is the only place where space hoppers, trumpets, bagpipes, darts, catapulting, human-size Ker-Plunk and apple bobbing can all make an appearance on the same day, all while forging brand new national and international friendships.

It’s what makes this Jamboree so special.
