Kilkenny’s Tom has been entertaining WINGS crowds!
One of the big personalities on WINGS 2026 has been 12-year-old Tom from 1st Kilkenny, who has kept morale high with his daily tours around the camp, proudly displaying his tea and coffee collection – as well as an impressive number of signed badges.
Tom has brightened everyone’s day with his cheerful mood and obsession with tea. “Who doesn’t love a good night’s sleep tea before bed,” he asks. “My camp record is 33 cups of tea in three days.” He reels off his tea bag collection with pride before talking about his badge signature challenge.
“Every day I get a new badge and I ask for signatures, then someone would pick out a name and would win,” he explains. “I’d say I’ve spoken to about 280 people” It turns out it was fellow Scout Marc who set the challenge in the first place as a dare.
“I just thought of the idea in my head,” he says. “I said I’d get him a coke for every signature he could get but then he started getting too many, and with that many cokes, we’d be in trouble back at camp.”
Tom picks up: “We came to WINGS because we thought it would be a great adventure to come along, find out new interesting things and meet new friends. It’s been a great time altogether. I’ve never been to England before and it’s a really beautiful country; I would definitely come again.”
Fellow 1st Kilkenny Scout Walter said: “I have bene enjoying the different types of Guild, especially the climbing. It’s a really good time here!”
Any final words from Tom: “You should all come to Kilkenny, there’s a lot of medieval history. Go 1st Kilkenny!” Who’s joining us?
