Congratulations to Chris and Hannah on their engagement!
WINGS Jamboree camp played host to a very special occasion today as Loddon ESU Volunteer Chris Faulkner surprised his partner, Beaver volunteer Hannah Williamson, with a surprise proposal at the heart of our campsite.
Hannah, attending the event on Wednesday with Beavers and Cubs from 1st Purley & Pangbourne in West Berkshire, was taken aback by the occasion as Chris – joined by several of his Explorers – got down on one knee at the WINGS sign by the main stage.
Against the backdrop of ‘Will you marry me?’ balloons, Hannah wasted no time saying yes to a relieved Chris, who just moments before had been tracking his heart rate monitor. Despite not meeting through Scouts, being an active part of the community has strengthened their relationship over three years.
Adding extra pressure, the BBC were at WINGS today capturing the proposal unbeknownst to Hannah. Thankfully she has agreed to being featured on the news in the coming days, with her Beavers adding some colour to the photos by throwing rose petals on the newly engaged couple.
Everyone at WINGS wishes Chris and Hannah all the best for their future – but they’ll have to go some way to top the WINGS proposal when it comes to wedding planning.
